Technologies Used 

For testing purposes we petty much use all technologies in a virtual environment.

We'll give you just a quick overview of the technologies we use and are involved with.

 

Our infrastructure is primarily based on a Windows Server 2003 foundation coordinated by the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise services. We have desktops that have Windows 2000 Pro/XP/and Vista installed but through virtualisation we have test environments presenting Novell/Linux/Unix/Mac and legacy systems such as Windows 95/98, believe it or not, there are still people using these operating systems.

 

Our 'Remote Support Tool' is second to none for the purposes intended and uses a constant secure link between the ITFortress and the target PC/Laptop/Server. We have tried & tested this software with many different expected scenarios likely to be reported into the Help-Desk and this includes mobile users with laptops on independent corporate networks using secured link technologies.

 

Our remote access products use a proprietary remote desktop protocol that is transmitted via SSL. An SSL certificate is created for each remote desktop and is used to cryptographically secure communications between the remote desktop and the accessing computer. We access remote desktops using an Internet-based web portal and, optionally, the Remote Access software Ignition stand-alone application.

The portal also provides status information for the remote computers and, optionally, remote computer management functions. The service connects the remote desktop and the local computer using SSL over TCP or UDP and utilizing NAT traversal techniques to achieve peer-to-peer connectivity when available.

 

Our telephony and Internet Service are primarily provided by BT Business Services, and we have a number of convenient secure payment methods available for end users to use.

 

For either on-site or remote network monitoring services, again a totally secure link/software is provided and used allowing our engineers to identify and diagnose the issues quickly.
